金属卤素灯又称金属卤化物灯，它是由高压汞灯家特定金属卤化物发展而来的紫外线灯。加入的金属卤化品种不同，其光谱分布不同，用途也不同。加入GaI3（碘化镓），可提高403nm、417nm的光谱能量，该灯也也成为碘镓灯或晒版灯、曝光灯。
Metal halogen lamp, also known as metal halide lamp, is ultraviolet lamp that developed from the combination of high pressure mercury lamp and metal halide. As with the difference of the types of metal halide added into the lamps, the spectrum distributions of the lamps and their usage are different correspondingly. Once added with GaI3, the spectral energy of the lamp increases 403nm or 417nm and the lamp also turns into Iodine gallium light, copy light or exposure lamp.
加入碘化铁等多元卤化物可提高380nm，即365-400nm之间的光谱能量，改变紫外线的频谱宽度，以适应一些需要365nm、380nm灯宽谱带的新型油墨及特殊应用工艺。
