Metal Halogen Lamps:
Introduction:
Metal halogen lamp, also known as metal halide lamp, is ultraviolet lamp that developed from the combination of high pressure mercury lamp and metal halide. As with the difference of the types of metal halide added into the lamps, the spectrum distributions of the lamps and their usage are different correspondingly. Once added with GaI3, the spectral energy of the lamp increases 403nm or 417nm and the lamp also turns into Iodine gallium light, copy light or exposure lamp.
Once added with ferric iodide and other multi-element halides, the spectral energy of the lamp increases 380nm, which means, the spectral energy turns into 365-400nm and the bandwidth of frequency spectrum of ultraviolet rays is changed. Therefore, these types of lamps can provide the broad band lights with the spectral energy of 365nm or 380nm that needed in new printing ink and special application process.
Application:
Metal halogen lamps are mainly used for the solidification of UV printing ink and UV paint, dry film, wet film, green solder mask and board exposure. These lamps have prominent effects on chromatic printing ink coating of wire mark and solidification, especially on the thick coating products and the curing and drying of white or black coating.
Ferric iodide is one kind of halide, which can provide broad ultraviolet radiation spectrum and strengthen the spectral output in the 380nm region. The metal halide lamp added with ferric iodide can have first-rate effect on the exposure system of photopolymer and daypack film. Besides that, the metal halide lamp is widely applied in film, Silk screen, PCB, diazo film and board exposure, because its spectral energy are extremely consistent with the absorption spectrum of certain materials which may have rapid sclerosis reaction.
